Section C: Statement of Teaching Effectiveness
As I look back over my life, I see that I was born to teach. I believe it is in my genes to teach, because both my parents teach high school and my sister is a principle for a middle school. Every time I finish a class session I feel a great sense of accomplishment and have an inner gratitude for my profession. Teaching a class, whether face to face or online, is my life’s purpose. Becoming an effective teacher, however, did not happen overnight. It has taken me years of hard work and experience to become the effective teacher I am today and I still learn and grow every semester. I fully believe that being an effective teacher is a career-long, ever-changing process based on the fact that in my area there is always constant change. Teaching material changes, technology changes, students change, and I change. My goal each semester is to keep the tried and true methods/processes that work and to also incorporate new methods/processes, as well. The following areas, which include appendix artifacts attached, represent the multiplicity of my teaching effectiveness:
A. Teaching Philosophy
B. Instructional Methods
C. Areas of Teaching & Scholarly Expertise
D. New Course/New Program Development
E. Assessment
F. Advising Role
G. Other Academic Activities
